Brian has been involved with various NDT practices since 2006.
NDT certifications and positions during this period were obtained in the methods: of:
Most notably, Brian was the NDT Technical Manager for two licensed API manufacturing facilities.
This position provided the ability to hone his skills with applying actual NDT production methods, creating NDT Technical Procedures and generating Written Practice Documents.
Brian was also directly involved with procuring advanced automated Phased Array Ultrasonic testing machines along with stationary and automated Digital X-Ray equipment.
This included everything from operating and maintaining the actual equipment to creating the NDT documents needed for industry compliance.
ViMar’s training program will provide the required ASNT Ultrasonic theory; however, Brian’s well-rounded knowledge from years of industry production will bring a revised element of demonstrative and “hands on” practicality to the classroom for the students.
Brian’s additional industry background consists of; Ultrasonic examinations to ASME and AWS codes, QA/QC Auditing practices, Destructive Testing, CNC Machining, Dimensional parts inspection, Nuclear power plant Jr. Health Physicist.

Tom’s robust portfolio of Industry and NDT knowledge, starting as ‘Development Engineer’ with RCA in 1967, is second to none; and impossible to duplicate.
Tom has been Brian’s Ultrasonic instructor and mentor since 2007, so it made perfect sense that Brian should continue Tom’s training legacy as Tom approaches retirement.
Eddy Current (ET) training will still be provided by Tom through “Martin NDT” along with Ultrasonic training should ViMar NDT be ‘double booked’ for UT classes.
Tom’s industry portfolio consists of;
1967 to 1971: Development Engineer, RCA, Lancaster PA.
Involved in the design and development of color television tubes.
1971 to 1973: NDT Engineer, Allis-Chalmers Corp., Nuclear Components Division, York, PA (now Precision Components Corporation).
Primary NDT responsibilities were in ultrasonic, eddy current and magnetic particle inspection. During this time also taught evening math classes at York College, York, PA.
1973 to 1976: Sales Manager, Aerotech Laboratories, Lewistown, PA.
(Manufacturer of ultrasonic transducers and accessories)
Managed sales in 20 field offices in North America plus O.E.M. accounts.
1976 to 1984: NDT Supervisor, U.S. Steel, National-Duquesne Works.
Responsible for NDT equipment operation and training of Level I and II personnel at National (pipe mill) and Duquesne (primary mill).
Certified NDT Level III in UT, RT, MT, ET, and PT per SNT-TC-1A and U.S. Steel written practice.
Promoted in April 1983 to General Supervisor of NDT, U.S. Steel, Mon Valley Works (included Homestead, National, Duquesne, Christy Park, Edgar Thompson, Clairton and Irvin Plants).
1984 to 1988: Precision Components Corp., York, PA.
Manager, Quality Methods, NDT Development, and Field Service Groups.
1988 to present: Owner, Martin NDT, York, PA.
Nondestructive Testing consulting, training, and NDT systems development.
Tom’s previous NDT certifications and qualifications with ASNT and NAVSEA, spanning almost 50 years, include Ultrasonics, Radiography, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Eddy Current testing.
